Meet Captain Troy

A Lifetime on the Water

A true Maine experience starts with a true Maine fisherman. Born and raised in Southwest Harbor, Captain Troy has spent most of his life on the water. What started with a small skiff and a few traps became a lifelong passion, a family tradition, and eventually the boat-to-table connection behind Archie’s Lobster.

From Our Traps to Your Table

Captain Troy’s life on the water began before he was even a teenager. At just nine years old, he was already hauling lobster traps by hand from a small skiff around the waters of Mount Desert Island. Those early days sparked something that would shape the rest of his life — a love for the independence of working on the ocean and for the Maine fishing tradition he grew up around. After graduating from high school and attending boat school, Troy continued building a life on the water. He purchased his first major vessel, a 42-foot Bruno Stillman, and initially used the boat for scalloping before eventually transitioning into the lobster industry. By 1995, Troy was ready for the next chapter. He had his first custom boat built and named her Emily’s Way in honor of his daughter, who was born shortly after the boat was launched. For Troy, fishing has never simply been a job. It has been a way of life — one built over decades on the working waterfront and passed along through his family.
Boat to Table

Caught by Our Family. Served by Ours.

Today, the fishing vessel Heather & Emily proudly provides Archie’s Lobster with its daily supply of lobster. That connection between the boat and Archie’s is something we’re especially proud of. The lobster served at our tables isn’t coming from some distant supplier — it is being caught right here by our own family in the waters surrounding Mount Desert Island. It’s our version of boat-to-table: straightforward, local, and rooted in the same Maine fishing tradition Captain Troy has been part of since childhood. That means when you sit down at Archie’s with a lobster roll, lobster dinner, or one of our other favorites, there’s a real story behind what’s on your plate — and there’s a good chance the person who caught it isn’t very far away.
